When in Rome, do as the Romans do!

Rome certainly was not build in a day, but who says you cant see it in a day? All you need is a map, the route that guides you and some good shoes! Follow me on my city trip in a day and let in inspire you.

The starting point for this city trip was San Benetetto del Tronto, which is located on the other side of the "boot" of Italy. From here we took a bus to Rome. This return ticket costed only €29,- per person and the ride took about three hours. So we decided to take the first bus towards Rome and the last bus back. We departed around 5:30 in the morning, so during the bus ride I had to catch up on some sleep. When we arrived we still did not had some breakfast yet, so we went to get some just like the Italians do: Standing at a coffee bar, quickly eating and drinking some coffee and heading in to the city.

First off we went to see the Colosseum and the Forum Romanum. Due to time limits we decided to walk trough the whole city, only take the subway when necessary and not to wait buy tickets to see the highlights. The reason why we did not buy tickets to see the Colosseum, Sint Peter Basilica etc. is because of the long queues. Most of us had seen Rome before and most of us are definitely coming back!

So when we went further on went to see the monument of Victor Emanuel II, Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain. It was very crowded at the Trevi Fountain, but we managed to throw a coin in. They say that if you throw a coin in to the fountain with your left hand over your right shoulder, you will definitely come back and visit Rome. For me it had worked the first time, since this is the second time for me visiting Rome. After this we were getting hungry and decided to get a pizza in a remote pizzeria. We had a great lunch but a ice cream for desert could not mis.

After our ice creams we took the subway to see the Sint Peter Basilica. Again it was very crowed inside the Vatican and the queue was extremely long due to the security with metal detectors. We walk around in the areas that allowed us to and then decided to see Castel Sant' Angelo. Last but not least we went back towards the Spanish steps and decided to shop a little bit and grab some dinner before we left. We found a great place called "Sali & Tabacchi" to eat pasta and pizza, with some great music and friendly waiters.

Exited for Rome now and can't wait to see it? I can't blame you. Watch the travel video and get a glimpse of the magnificent Rome!
